Position Description:

Adventure Stage Chicago is seeking an interim, part-time Education Manager to oversee the day-to-day activities of ASC Education programs, including our classroom residencies, after school workshops, lobby activities and Curtain Conversations (post-performance talkbacks with the audience). 

The interim Education Manager will inherit a plan for implementing the above upon their start in January.  They will be expected to maintain the plan (which includes evaluation and assessment of program participants) until June, when the theatre enters a new fiscal year.  At that time, the interim Education Manager is welcome to apply for a permanent position.

The Education Manager reports to the Producing Artistic Director.

Adventure Stage Chicago is a professional theatre for young audiences and families that operates out of the Northwestern University Settlement House.  It’s programmatic mission is to create and tell heroic stories about young people in order to inspire all of us to be heroes in our own lives.  ASC is thoughtfully designed to be fully integrated into the fabric of the parent organization where, along with other Settlement program partners, uses the arts to disrupt generation poverty.

Requirements
Skills & Qualifications: 

Responsibilities include: 

  • Coordinating classroom residencies as well as any and all ancillary meetings pre-, mid- and post-residency. 
  • Planning and coordinating two culminating events at ASC for spring residency participants including transportation to and from the theatre. 
  • Supporting teaching artists and evaluating student progress. ·Documenting residencies thoroughly with photos and video.
  • Designing show-specific interactive lobby activities that invite audience participation. 
  • Facilitate, when possible, Curtain Conversations that happen with actors on stage after each performance.
  • Manage a budget and process payroll for teaching artists.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in theatre, drama/arts education or related field ·3 yrs of arts integration experience
  • A clear understanding of curriculum planning 
  • Excellent time management skills
